BIOGRAPHY

Residing in the Northern New South Wales region of Fingal Head, artist Jane Hoggard is deeply connected to the natural surroundings around her. The rolling hills meeting the water, crisp air and bush birds calling from a crop of trees outside her studio.

With an ancestral upbringing in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, Jane has primarily chosen the environment around her as her subject. Taking the abstract pathway as opposed to a more graphical and commercial sector her siblings chose, Jane is inspired by nature, life experiences and memories.

With formative arts training in illustration, and drawing as her baseline practice, Jane’s work now speaks of freedom, joy and a playful attitude incorporating her love of textures and colours. Her nostalgic love of objects and memories of places form the layers of her work. There is often a spirit in Jane’s work which embody a delicate balance of boldness and composition.
