BIOGRAPHY

These paintings represent a collection of memories and manifestations of the way in which the exquisite beauty of nature appeals to me.  The result of a layering of sensations and knowledge about a place, the role of the species of natives and others in that place, and in turn, the ways in which all elements of that environment are interconnected.  Transparent glazes, applied over time, record these cumulative sensations and draw attention to the detail and beauty of our native species.  In this case, heathland habitat in the west and mountain rocket from around yingina/Great Lake in lutruwita/Tasmania.

Kylie Elkington was born in Sydney and currently lives and works in Tasmania.
