Salon des Refusés 2021 with our artist Christopher McVinish

Gallery One is excited to celebrate the announcement of the ‘Salon des Refusés 2021’ with our artist Christopher McVinish, who is a finalist this year with his Oil on Canvas painting ‘Portrait of Nugget and Geoff’
We have represented Christopher McVinish for many years and enjoy bringing his detailed paintings to our clients. We currently have a number of new paintings from Christopher on the gallery wall — so visit us from Tuesday to Saturday, 9am – 5pm to view these wonderful artworks in the flesh!

Artist Statement:“Geoff White is the Director and owner of Lost Bear Gallery in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. Lost Bear is an elegant gallery and a destination for Sydney and Canberra patrons, as well as interstate and overseas visitors. Geoff is deeply committed to his artists and takes an interest in their welfare beyond exhibitions and sales. Since I’ve been one of his artists for about a decade now I’ve gotten to know him well. Yet there is still something enigmatic about Geoff which I thought would be a good challenge to try and capture in a portrait. Geoff and his dog, Nugget, are indivisible form each other – and the gallery – there was no question of not including Nugget. Nugget’s an ‘original’: a red kelpie/border collie cross, almost 12 years old now, so I’ve seen him grow up. Nugget knows his art too and greets artists and gallery patrons with seasoned enthusiasm. He joins Geoff and I for coffees when we chew the fat about art and life and lets his opinions be known from time to time. For centuries artists have shown their respect for canines by painting them with their best (human) friends.”
