This exhibition sees a continuation of the exploration on the theme of water and light. Numerous works feature people immersed in water, set in a moment of time, where the relationship between people and each other, people with the water and waves bathed in light is developed. Other works feature a single swimmer quietly moving through the water or a single abode on the edge of a still lake giving a feeling of quiet solitude in an almost primal setting. Another work is simply looking into a shallow water’s edge with the sense of stillness and reflection. A collection of smaller works also studies the relationships of water, people and light whilst playing with subtle variations of compositions. Although all the paintings are realist images, they are based on a more abstract approach to” the structure of the canvas via flattening out the picture plane. The compositions are carefully constructed to create balance whist using traditional practices in a contemporary method.
